A Bcom. honours student, currently pursuing it from Indraprastha college, Delhi university

Hey all,

I am Payal Lohia and I am a Bcom. honours student currently pursuing it from Indraprasth college, Delhi university.

When thinking back and remembering all of the teachers that I have had in the past, there is one in particular that comes to my mind.  He is Ashutosh sir. He taught me maths in my 11 th and 12 th  Std. and when I think of him, I think about how hard he made me work and I also think about how he made me challenge myself. Most of all, I remember how he influenced me. I was not taking tuition till 10 th class but as soon as I entered in 11 th having commerce with maths in hand, the need for a tutor developed. and then I approached him, I used to think that tuition classes are just like school classes where the teacher will come, teach the things, take the doubts and will leave but this was not the case with Ashutosh sir. His classes are always like an interactive session where one can contribute his/her ideas and thoughts. He makes the environment of the class so lively and homely that besides the concepts of maths , students get to learn life lessons and the efforts he takes in making students exploring the world outside is just worth appreciating (organizing, collecting and showing  the videos related to environment, social issues and other important areas). Interactions with him go way beyond the subject. He always takes initiative to help his students academically as well as morally.

Ashutosh sir has positively impacted my opinion on education because he is one of the few exceptional teachers I have had, his simple teaching methods gave the strategies to be successful in solving maths problems.  Also what is the best thing about him is that he does not worry about the timely completion of syllabus, he wants his students to first understand the concepts, no matter how many questions he has to give and how much time it takes.

With his guidance and being mentored from him, I successfully scored 90+ in 11 th and  95 out of 100 in maths in 12 th . 11 th was a tough class , all new concepts, formulas, tricks that needed a lot of time and practice  and sir was a savior in this . He made us practice all the sums so well that somehow I was able to score above 90 in maths. He always believed in me and encouraged me by making me understand that I am worth achieving everything I desire for. Besides a teacher, I see him as my friend with whom I can share my problems and issues and who will always guide me in taking the best decisions in life and will always remain by my side.

To conclude, he is the best mentor, friend, guide and a wonderful teacher one could ever ask for in life.
